Longtime Carpinteria Bob Fuji – who has lived in Carpinteria since the 1970s – recently celebrated his 90th birthday at Bates Beach.  Fuji, whose birthday is March 9, 1934, told CVN that he is blessed with all the friends that he has and is very thankful to everyone.

Adalei Ilima Watts was born on Jan. 15, 2024 at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California, to Martin and Janet Watts of Thousand Oaks. She arrived at six pounds, two ounces, and 19 inches long. She joins sister Mary Jane, who is two years old. 

Madden Benjamin McDermott was born to Michael McDermott and Leah Ughoc McDermott of Salt Lake City on March 5, 2024, arriving at seven pounds, five ounces and 20 inches long. His grandparents are Sherry Berkowitz and Gene Wanek of Carpinteria; and Dave McDermott of San Ramon, California.

Zoe Helena Alvarez was born on Feb. 18, 2024 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital to Eric Alvarez and Andrea Pintor. She arrived at six pounds, 13 ounces, and 19 inches long, joining her big sister, two-and-a-half-year-old Samara. 

Georgie Ana de Mattos and Filippo Talucci are engaged to be married. de Mattos’ parents are George and Marijo de Mattos of Carpinteria; Talucci’s are Gretchen Romani of Carmel Valley and Giovanni Talucci of Portiferraio, Elba, Italy.
